1. Check/replace your air filter! Especially if it’s the 1” pleated variety. (They are NOT good for 4 months)
2. If your ac is running and the house is 72-74 but not getting to the 68 you like it…it’s working! (ACs are not designed to cool into the 60s in 90+ degree weather)
3. If your fan is running but you don’t feel air coming from the registers.
3a. Go see if the outdoor unit is running if not there is an issue.
3b. Is it running and you can see ice forming on it. *shut the ac off! Turn the fan from auto to on on the thermostat and check your air filter. (If clogged change it run the fan for three hours then try the ac again).
4. Check your breakers
5. If all of the above have been done and your AC is still not cooling properly or if the outdoor fan is not running and you hear a periodic humming. Shut the ac off and call us.. 412-605-8317

Inspect filters monthly and replace them at least every 2-3 months to ensure proper airflow.

Before changing the direction of your ceiling fan - wipe the blades!
Ceiling fan direction in the winter should be clockwise, and the fan should run at the lowest speed. This pulls cool air up toward the ceiling, which in turn displaces the warm air that rises and collects near the ceiling. The low speed prevents any drafty "wind chill" and keeps the airflow steady and consistent.
A clockwise ceiling fan direction for high ceilings is especially important in winter. It moves the warmer air trapped at the very top of the room down. The air flows toward the floor and along the walls. This makes the room feel warmer, allowing you to lower the thermostat.
A ceiling fan should rotate counterclockwise in the summer, so the blades push cooler air down in a column. This is the best ceiling fan direction for air conditioning since it makes the air feel cooler than it is. It allows you to turn your thermostat up a few degrees.

More fun than a barrel of monkeys - but not as fun as a Pens game!
